The responsibility of our Altar Guild is to see that the worship space is kept beautiful and in good order, both to glorify God and to provide a setting which enables the congregation to worship in a meaningful way.
The duties of Altar Guild include:
We have a wonderful group that enjoys working together in this capacity. We welcome new members (both men and women) to serve with us on Altar Guild. New members are scheduled with others who have served for quite some time, and these “more seasoned” members will be happy to teach you what to do. If you are interested, please come to the sacristy (the little room to your right when coming down the hall from the church to the Sunday School wing) on a Sunday morning and talk with those who are serving or call Pat Walschburger via the church office. We hope you’ll consider becoming a member of our group in serving our Lord in this way!
Ushers are needed to serve at each of our worship services. Our ushers are organized into “teams,” which are then scheduled for duty. Ushers distribute bulletins, direct people to seats (when necessary), give directions to other locations in the church, assist with directing people for Communion, collect the offering and assist in security. Contact Barbara Kotsch to be placed on an usher team.
Greeters do just that: greet! We use greeters at each of our Sunday services (and others) to welcome people as they enter the church. This offers a great opportunity to get to know people! Many times, couples or families serve together, or singles can serve with someone else. Again, contact our office manager, to be placed on this list.
Do you have a good speaking voice? Are you comfortable talking in front of people? We need volunteers to read the lessons or help lead worship at our services. Contact church office.
Our congregation provides assistance at the Whitehall Food Pantry, (located in the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, just west of the Whitehall High School,) one Monday evening a month. Tasks include stocking shelves and bagging food for families. Contact person: Judy Ehret.
As a service to our families, we have a group who will help serve luncheons after funeral services. Contact person: Rosemarie Haffner.
This group assists in the general maintenance of the church and grounds and set ups for outside functions. Contact person: Mike Miller.
We have certainly missed opportunities in this listing. But you can see that we do need YOU! Have you filled out a “time and talent” sheet? This resource is used when we are looking for help!
