I wish all of you could read the FB post by one of our members, who was in Philly over the weekend, and saw homeless people living in place like U-Haul storage containers. He commented on the need of all of us who are able to assist those in need.
There is another note (a little lower) seeking asistance with the Thanksgiving food boxes we send out from FELC. But we are also a supprting church of the Whitehall Food Pantry, and they need assistance with the food boxes they also distribute.
Each of the churches are asked to provide certain food items. Faith Lutheran is being asked to gather INSTANT MASHED POTATOES and CANNED FRUIT. If you can donate these items, bring them to the office or the Welcome Center in the lobby, and we'll get them to the pantry. THANK YOU in advance!
We are looking for you at worship this coming Sunday, Oct 23:
Worship at 8:00 am and 10:30 am; Holy Communion shared by intinction.
Sunday School for all ages is offered at 9:15 am.
During the Sunday School hour, retired Allentown fire marshal Fred Sheirer will have a presentation on Halloween season fire prevention and safety tips. Everyone is invited to Parker Hall for this.
Don't forget to check in on FB and let people know where YOU ARE on Sunday mornings! Many of you are doing this, and it's great to see! Let the community know what we are doing here!
Pastor Bodnyk will be meeting with our Fifth Graders on Sunday mornings, Nov. 13 and 20, to prepare them to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. They will then receive the Sacrament on Sunday, December 4, at either service.
The age for reception of Communion is a parental decision. If you want your child to wait until 7th grade, that is your prerogative. If you want your child to receive the sacrament earlier, just talk to the Pastor.
Once again this year, we will be providing around 35 food boxes to families in need, containing food stuffs necessary for their Thanksgiving dinner. We have a start, with the food collection on Harvest Home, but remember that we need more! We also need TURKEYS!
We have been told that there are families within our FELC community in need of food boxes. We have several, but if you know of others, please get the names to us. (Make sure they want the food, and whether they can pick it up. Let them know that the recipients’ names are confidential.)
SUNDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 30….put the date on your calendar if you are interested in having some fun! Our newly-reorganized Youth Group is sponsoring a TRUNK OR TREAT NIGHT.
The youth will come looking for treats starting at 4:00 pm, then will gather in Blacker Hall for a party. Cars will be parked along the perimeter of the lower parking lot, and the youth will go from trunk to trunk (or hatchback) to get their treats.
YOUTH: Put on your costumes and come join the fun. This event is for ALL THE YOUTH OF FELC!!
ADULTS (with and w/out children): We need you to bring your cars (decorated?), along with treats to hand out. If this is YOU, give your name to Sara John.
Our offerings on Sunday, Oct 16 totaled $3323. We need $6517 each week for our budgeted expenses. Attendance last week was 207. There were 58 in Sunday School.
Please join us for a program being offered by our Women of Faith group: “Making Wise Choices in the Midst of Raw Emotions.”
The final session will be on Monday evening, Oct. 24, beginning at 7:00 pm. They meet in The Gathering Place. Contact Jackie Daniel or Karen Euculano
